Our Club's Monthly Meeting Program
Thursday, December 14, 2023 6:30 p.m.
Salem Center 50+
Demonstrator: Reed "RoboHippy" Grey
Program Details: Threading Jigs
From Reed: “My demo will be with the Baxter threading jig. I got started with
threading jigs and cutters via a 3-day work shop at Nick Stagg's place with
Bonnie Klein. I turn on mini lathes for this part. I use waste blocks which are
mounted on 1 by 8 tpi locking nuts so I can do them in batches. I rough turn
and let them sit for a while. Then glue them to the waste blocks. Will show
making the waste blocks. I will demonstrate 'timing' the threads, which
makes/allows the grain to line up, and will show some finishing.
I will cover tools, tool rests, and woods.”
